Offering more appointments than most entry-level electric guitars, the “AFD” Les Paul Special-II was designed by Slash himself. Topped with AAA flame maple, this guitar also features a dark cherry mahogany body and neck, ivory binding, and a silk print of Slash’s Snakepit logo on the headstock. Prepare yourself for some thick, overdriven, screaming metallic tone the first time you plug into the included Snakepit-15 combo amp’s overdrive channel — the tone that Slash made famous. Complete with a premium gig bag, signature guitar picks, and eMedia online lessons, the Epiphone Slash “AFD” Les Paul Special-II Performance Pack is a great all-inclusive bundle for beginners, or anybody who is searching for quality and affordability.
The Epiphone Les Paul Special-II — a real Les Paul at an amazing price
The streamlined Epiphone Special, a little smaller and weighing less than many of the Les Pauls you’ll encounter, delivers a fat and nasty tone thanks to its two open coil humbucker pickups. The Special-II features a mahogany body and neck, rosewood fretboard with a 1.68″ nut width, chrome hardware, and volume/tone controls. This is the go-to guitar for those who want to learn on a Les Paul-style guitar but don’t want to break the bank.
The Snakepit-15 guitar amplifier is a great practice amp
With its focused and razor-sharp tone, the Snakepit-15 was designed by Slash himself. This unruly 15-watt guitar amp features an 8″ Electar G8 Classic-25 4 ohms speaker in an open-back cabinet that delivers terrific midrange crunch with its overdrive channel, as well as something a bit more subtle with its clean channel. Complete with a full EQ section, an auxiliary input, and a headphone jack, the Snakepit-15 makes a fantastic practice amp.
Slash! Why? He is awesome
Known primarily for his work with the hard rock band Guns N’ Roses during the late 1980s, Slash has garnered a well-earned reputation as one of rock’s preeminent guitarists. Named the runner-up on Time magazine’s list of “The 10 Best Electric Guitar Players” in 2009, and No. 65 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of “The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” in 2011, Slash continues to receive accolades from critics and music fans alike. Aside from his enormous success with Guns N’ Roses, Slash has also achieved acclaim with his side project, Slash’s Snakepit, and as a member of the supergroup Velvet Revolver. In 2012, Slash received one of rock music’s highest honors, when he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
