Renowned as one of the best DACs (Digital to Analogue Convertor) available, the 32-bit ESS Sabre at the heart of the 8300CD is a very special device. Banishing levels of jitter and distortion to the lowest levels possible, it gives the 8300CD a natural and pure sound with low background noise. Working with the ESS DAC, the Hyperstream modulator offers optimal transient response for a punchy, powerful sound. Using a slot-load mechanism makes the 8300CD faster to load and cleaner in style. Doing without the traditional loading tray also reduces the chance of resonance, potentially improving sound quality still further. The new mechanism is also tolerant of imperfect discs that might be scratched or dirty, letting you play your most loved discs that other players may refuse.
With its USB input, you can enjoy high resolution music streamed from your computer. Compatible with data up to 32-bit/384kHz, the 8300CD is equipped not just for now but for the future of High Resolution Audio, too. The USB input now also accepts DSD (Direct Stream Digital) data, making the 8300CD compatible with an even wider range of file types. As well as the USB input, the 8300CD is also equipped with one AES/EBU, two coaxial and two optical digital inputs. Connect up sources such as your TV, games console and set-top TV box and you can enjoy the power of the 8300CD’s awesome DAC with all your digital components. Added to the USB and comprehensive selection of digital inputs, the 8300CD also fares extremely well on the output front. Digital outputs are available via AES/EBU, coaxial or optical means – covering every type you could wish for. On the analogue side, both analogue RCAs and balanced XLRs are included. Balanced XLRs give you professional standard connectivity with superior screening for reduced distortion. With its slot-loading mechanism, the 8300CD looks purer and cleaner in design. A choice of silver or black, blasted aluminium finish means that the player will fit in with a wide range of other hi-fi components.
